Brought into being by Joachim Dölker as part of his teaching the drum set, percussion and rhythm ‘n groove at the’Institut für Musik’ in Osnabruck, Germany, in 2011 together with 7 of his students, the ‘Groove Onkels’ already achieved their national breakthrough in 2012 by taking part and performing their ‘Gelber Sack’ in the programme ‘Germany’s Got Talent’.
Until the beginning of 2018 the video platform YouTube added another 9 million international viewers to the 7 million ones on TV and so vaulted the ‘Groove Onkels’ to Canada, Singapore, Bahrain, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, to a segment of the British TV station Sky-One and last but not least to the German programme ZDF Fernsehgarten.

2011 Founding of the eight-person percussion group the ‘Groove Onkels’ by Joachim Dölker as part of his teaching as a lecturer for drums, percussion and rhythm ‘n groove at the ‘Institut für Musik’ in Osnabruck, Germany.
End of 2011 Staging of the trash performance ‘Gelber Sack’ as their term result in Osnabruck town centre. The video of this event was released by Joachim Dölker on his YouTube channel and became very popular.
2012 the editorial staff of ‘Germany’s Got Talent’ took notice of the video and invited the’Groove Onkels’ to the Tempodrom in Berlin for telerecordings. With standing ovation and an encore the ‘Groove Onkels’ made it to the broadcasting on RTL Television. As a result they became more popular and Joachim Dölker’s YouTube channel was floated with viewers, comments and likes. Consequently, from that day on their status changed into a commercial and professional one with lots of performances in the years to come.

2013 Being booked by MAN for their Trucknology Days in Munich. Show and workshop for Phillip Morris in Bern. 8 days with 7 shows daily for Caterpillar, Zeppelin Construction Vehicles and Zeppelin CAT Rental at their trade fair ‘BAUMA 13’.
Conception and performance of a special show using parts of cars due to an anniversary of Mercedes Benz in Bremen as well as because of the introduction of their new S-Class.
2014 Conception and performance of a specific join-in percussion event for the pharmaceutical global player ‘Boehringer Ingelheim’. 5000 of their employees were trained in three different locations in Germany and were connected for the final event via video screen!
Shows for REMONDS, Dr. Oetker, HeLaBa, Müpro, Bayrische Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken and at the trade fair IAA ‘14 in Hanover for KRONE Trailer.
Being booked for 2 days at ‘La Fête de la Forêt de Sénart, Château de la Faisenaderie’ in France. First event for a company in Luxemburg.
2015 Being booked by the union of the Bavarian waste disposal firms, the tobacco company Arnold André, 28 shows within 7 days at the 150th anniversary of BASF in Ludwigshafen.

2016 Performances for Boehringer Ingelheim, BASF, Mercedes Benz, the Department of the environment in Berlin, Thyssen Krupp, SOLARLUX, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Booked by Wacker Neuson Group for 35 special shows within 7 days at the trade fair BAUMA’16 in Munich. Specific performance in Zurich at the University of Arts booked by three of the leading Swiss companies recycling electrical waste. Shows in Luxemburg and Belgium.
2017 Taking part at the festival ‘Spring of Culture’ in Bahrain playing 7 shows and doing one join-in workshop.
Performing in Halifax, Canada at the ‘Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Festival’, having 9 shows and 50000 visitors.
Playing at the biggest music event ’Zwarte Cross Festival’ with 12 shows and the most popular street art festival ‘Roggefeest’ in Nes on the island Ameland, all of them being in the Netherlands.
The last highlight in 2017 was in Singapore at the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Grand Prix with 10 shows near Marina Bay, Singapore.
Furthermore, there were festivals in the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, Romania and France.
2018 A sequence of ‘Gelber Sack’ is broadcast in the show ‘Shuffle’ at the German TV station called ARD ONE.
The ‘Groove Onkels’ are part of a special environment day in Helsingborg, Sweden performing 4 shows.
